How it works

Four steps. Only one needs a pen.

A will is a paper document under Kenyan law — no website can sign it for you. We handle everything up to the pen, then walk you through the rest.

I

Answer guided questions

Your family, executors, guardians, property and wishes — each question explained in plain English, with examples and the common mistakes to avoid. Save and return any time.

II

Review with built-in checks

Our drafting checks flag issues an experienced succession lawyer would catch: an omitted child, a missing residue clause, jointly-owned property that won't pass under a will.

III

Pay and download

Your will as a formatted PDF and Word document, plus step-by-step signing and witnessing instructions and a schedule of assets for your executor.

IV

Sign before two witnesses

Print, then sign with two adult witnesses present at the same time — neither of whom is a beneficiary. Tick off each step on your dashboard, then store the original safely.

Why it matters

Without a will, the law decides. Not you.

Intestacy follows a formula

Die without a valid will and your estate is distributed by statutory rules — which may not match what your family needs or what you would have chosen.

Law of Succession Act, Part V

Every child has rights

Children born outside marriage have equal inheritance rights, and dependants left without provision can challenge a will in court. Our checks help you address everyone deliberately.

Burial disputes tear families apart

Where a person is laid to rest is one of Kenya's most litigated family questions. A written wish carries weight when it matters most.

Questions

Asked often, answered plainly.

Is a will made online legally valid in Kenya?

The document we prepare becomes your legal will once it is properly executed: signed by you in the physical presence of two competent adult witnesses, who sign at the same time. The law cares about correct signing, not about who typed the document. We give you exact instructions, and your dashboard tracks each step.

Who should not use an online will?

Honest answer: some estates need an advocate's judgment, not just good drafting — complex business structures, property abroad, family situations likely to be contested, or beneficiaries with special needs. Our checks flag these and we'll tell you when we think you should upgrade to advocate review or see a lawyer directly.

Can my witnesses be people named in my will?

They can witness — but any gift to a witness or a witness's spouse is void under section 13 of the Law of Succession Act. So in practice: choose two adults who receive nothing under the will. We repeat this warning in your signing instructions because it is the single most common mistake.

What happens to my M-Pesa and digital accounts?

Your will can give your executor authority over digital assets — mobile money, email, social media, online businesses — and record whether accounts should be closed, preserved or transferred. Access credentials go in a separate sealed memorandum, never in the will itself (a will may become a public document during probate).

Can I change my will later?

Yes. Update your answers any time; each change produces a new version and fresh documents. Remember that only a properly signed paper copy counts — after signing a new version, destroy previously signed copies to avoid confusion.

Is this legal advice?

No. Wosia is a document preparation service. The Will + Advocate Review plan connects you with an independent practising advocate who reviews your specific draft. For advice on your wider circumstances, consult an advocate directly.
